Part III of the Cambridge historial series was launched March 8, 2018 to a very proud Hespeler community.
“I was a bit worried,” said Marty Lachance, creator of the series. “It would be tough to find a more proud community that is just so passionate about their local history. I was thrilled and relieved they loved it.”
Lachance spent more than seven months researching, photographing, video and droning the old town of Hespeler. The local series (Galt, Preston and Hespeler) has garnered more than 400,000 views on Facebook so far. “Impressive metrics since the local Facebook user base of Cambridge is likely a fraction of that. People are watching and re-watching or it has an appeal outside of the region,” said Lachance.
What’s next for Marty?
“You put your heart and soul in these projects. You feel like you get to know the people you are researching. I’m going to take a bit of time off and think about the next community. It may be another local project. I am seriously contemplating tackling the enormously rich history in Quebec, we’ll see,” added Lachance.
